Hi Casey,
Apologies if this has been talked about somewhere else in the forum, but I was wondering if there were any plans on providing more Bluegrass content? I noticed there isn’t a dedicated section under the “Styles” heading, but a few tunes that are played within bluegrass circles.
Being from the UK I tend to lean towards the more…[Read more] -

Hi JW, I will pass your suggestion on to FV webmaster Casey. I know that currently Casey has a huge backlog of new content he is editing and he is always planning on the next batch of tunes.
BTW love that tune and I have heard it played many styles from strictly a 2 part oldtime tune to a highly revised 4-5 part Texas Contest fiddle tune. It…[Read more]

Would like to have lesson and sheet music on Bitter Creek. Been learning the tune out of The Fiddlers
Fake book but seems to be missing some parts to it. Been listening to the song on bing videos and what i’m hearing doesn’t match what’s in the book. I know that a lot of players add their own version of the tune also and I’m sure that’s a big part…[Read more] -

Hi, Shepsj. Thanks for chiming in. We wrapped Kevin’s recording session up on Sunday, so these suggestions are just a day late, I fear. However…
Is the Pigeon on the Gate tune this one? Or is it a different tune? I think I heard that there are multiple versions of the tune, so the one Hanneke taught might not be the one you are after. I…[Read more]

Hi Casey,
I would like to suggest Kevin do both,“Pigeon on the Gate” and
“The Glen of Aherlow” (Lafferty’s)
this would complete the set with “The Morning Dew” (Which I’ve finally learnt from your site, thanks)I saw him many years ago in Newtown,Wales, perform this set as a solo when he performed as “The Celtic Fiddle Festival” That’s when I…[Read more]

Hi Casey, Sounds like productive recording weekend with Kevin. Thanks for posting the tune list. Lots of great tunes to look forward to. Thanks for all your work keeping fresh tunes coming to FV. I first heard some of these tunes many years ago in Portland when Kevin first appeared in the Pacific NW. Lots to look forward to here. Thanks Casey. R

As promised, here is the update with the listing of tunes recorded this weekend by Kevin Burke. It will be a while before production is complete on these, but it’s nice to have a backlog of good tunes to offer going forward. Keep your eyes out…here are the tunes from this weekend’s session:
The Old Torn Petticoat
Stack of Barley
Garret…[Read more] -

Ok, folks. Thanks much for the input!
I’ll pass this feedback over to Kevin. We’re all set to start cutting tracks tomorrow evening through Sunday.
I’ll post the final list of lessons recorded in this thread once we wrap.
Cheers!!
