Hi New Fiddler, I love my good wood bow but everytime I try a Carbon Fiber Bow I’m really impressed. I personally know some folks that have gone from wood to Carbon and in fact I’m saving for one myself. I know you can do free trials so if possible try the bow out before you buy it. Each will sound different on the same instrument. Good luck and…[Read more]

Hi, I’m considering buying a carbon-fiber bow. Specifically, a Codabow diamond series. I’ve tried the NX, and the GX – and i am hoping to try an SX (halfway in between the two i’ve tried in price). I’d appreciate hearing anyone’s opinion on these bows. I like the GX, the NX is pretty good. But if the SX really is halfway in between in terms of…[Read more]

This sneak peek was very thoughtful of you to post for us… and is much appreciated. I’m loving this style. Both are great songs, the second one was an unexpected surprise (beautiful new favorite). Thank you, Casey!

Hi there, RenJenn.
Is that Last View of Scotland tune an Irish tune or Scottish? If Irish, I’ll pitch it to Niall Murphy for his recording sessions next week. If Scottish, I’ll pitch it to Hanneke whenever we get her back in studio. No guarantees they’ll choose to record it, but it will definitely be on the list of tunes which have been…[Read more]

Since we’re on the subject, I’d love to hear Miss Macleod’s reel. I have trouble figuring out how to add ornaments. (I’m pretty beginner)

I would love to have a tutorial for Prince Charlie’s last view of Scotland. It’s so dramatic. I think Hanneke would rock it. Has it ever been requested?

Well, despite a studio move and a new instructor scheduled to record in 10 days, I had to mix out a couple of Andre’s performances with guitar which was cut over the weekend. This guy’s technique, fire and personality are undeniable. I figured I’d share this sneak peek for Fiddlevideo subscribers.
Keep in mind that Andre recorded 43 tune…[Read more]

Hey Patti!
Thank you for the recommendation! I found Stobbe’s book on his website! I also saw a lot of discussion boards online buzzing about this particular book and how the exercises are exceptional. I am definitely getting this book; it takes about 3 weeks for it to arrive in the US, so it will probably arrive it in late October. I am going…[Read more]

Patti – if you find a source for Carol Ann’s book in Canada can you please post it? I’m not having any luck. And I totally agree regarding Gordon’s Red Book, and all his other books – wonderful.

Greetings Kevin Alexander!
Thank you for the suggestion! I found the book on Amazon, it seems to be out of print, luckily I was able to find a copy for under $6 in new condition! I am so excited to use this book.
Super appreciative, many thanks!
