Thanks for posting, Ringlets. Patti is a wonderful person, and cancer sucks. Patti is such a giving person to the fiddle world. Anything we can send in return will help her out.

Hi! Sorry for the delay in response. A couple of technical items (mp3 downloads) we’re working through here.
I don’t have a specific date by which new Hanneke vids will be posted. We do have a guitar player lined up, but schedules are tight to get backing tracks recorded. If you would like, you can pause your membership until the new…[Read more]

Casey Willis replied to the topic Pickups / microphones advice needed in the forum Unfiddling 1 year, 2 months ago
Hi, Odile. We really only use the pickup to drive reverb on the fiddle for the lessons. The majority of the audio you hear is from a couple of Neumann TLM-103 microphones.
However, Megan said she uses a V-200 Fishman pickup…and has mixed thoughts on its tone.
All the best!

I am happy to report that long-time Fiddlevideo instructor, Hanneke Cassel, plans to return to our studio this December to record a new series of fiddle lessons.
Do you have any specific request for Hanneke? While Hanneke ultimately chooses the tunes she records, all suggestions will be considered. Here is your chance to steer the output of…[Read more]

Hi, Gary. Great tune. I’ll put it on the list. I spoke with Michael a while back about joining the project, but he ended up not wanting to do it. It’s at least on the list for another instructor to possibly tackle in some future session.

Hi, Sonya. That’s one of the most beautiful waltzes out there. I’ve started to learn it several times but have never gotten to the finish line. But it’s definitely on my list to teach in some future recording session.

Hi, Paul. Added to the running list, sir! It’s kinda Texasy/swingy…maybe a Megan tune. Or Patti might know it. Cheers!

Hi, Ausin. I’ve added that tune to the running request list…too many tunes and not enough time! But perhaps one of our instructors will record a lesson on this one in the future, sir. Cheers!

Hi, Amanda. Apologies for missing this comment…just now seeing it. If it’s the tune that plays at the majority of the lessons, it is an original composition by Hanneke Cassel titled “The Glass Case of Emotion”.
You can learn the tune here: The Glass Case of Emotion
If it’s a tune at the end of one of Andre’s or Niall’s lessons, those are…[Read more]

Good call, Jane. If we can’t get Natalie to join, perhaps it would fall into Hanneke’s wheelhouse…I’ll add it to the running request list.

Casey Willis replied to the topic Southern Flavor in the forum Lessons in Production – Fiddle Tune Requests 1 year, 11 months ago
Hi, Ray. This one was definitely on her request list…we even prepped a recording file for it, but it didn’t make the first sessions.
We’ll keep it on the list, and I would imagine she’ll record it when she is able to make it back out to the studios.

Good suggestions, Martin and Jackson…they are added to the running request list for future sessions.
Patti will definitely record Red River Blues the next time she’s in the studio. Megan did record a tune called Blue Ridge Cabin Home, but perhaps that’s a different tune than Blue Ridge Mountain Home?? If we ever add a classical instructor,…[Read more]

Casey Willis replied to the topic Chord progressions in the forum Fiddle Lesson Forum 1 year, 11 months ago
Hi, Linday.
We don’t have the chords charted out for each tune separate from the sheet music, but it should be a fairly easy task to create a chart for your guitar players based on the sheet music. The way I generally chart tunes is to list four chords on each line before starting a new line. Generally you will find 16 measures in each part,…[Read more]
