Guillaume, I had the opportunity to see Andre perform a couple of months ago. What a talent. I was surprised to hear him play fiddle, tap rhythm and sing all at the same time.
I need to work on some of his tunes.

Hi Casey! Sorry for the late answer. Thank you so much for adding this song to the request list. No rush, I’m still struggling with your version of cotton patch rag and Megan’s leather britches. Thanks for the awesome work you guys do in this place. And being myself from Quebec, I can now learn from Andre Brunet, all those songs I’ve heard my…[Read more]

I’ve played in a lot of country bands. The best setup that has worked for me is the Barcus Berry Violin Pickup (model 1320) and the Fishman Loudbox Artist amplifier. The tone is great.

Thanks for the suggestion Chuck. I think Megan was recently in Casey’s studio so think it may a while until she is back around. I’ll make sure Casey sees your suggestion.

I heard Megan play a beautiful rendition of Bonnie Prince Charlie with Adam Hurt and would love to have her teach it on the fiddle.
Thanks so much for considering it.
Love Fiddlevideo.

Roger,
It’s amazing what your brain and ear can do when you put them to task!
The finger become the easy part.
Thanks for sharing.

My background is bluegrass and that is my passion. A few years ago a banjo pickin friend recorded a cd and included the tune Misty. He recorded it in D because his fiddle fiddler found the original key of Eb to be problematic. So I’ve set out to learn it in Eb just as a challange. Once I got in my head Eb, Bb and Ab, I was surprised that Eb was…[Read more]

Thanks, all! Luckily I’ve had a lot of opportunities to play with others in bands and at jams in the past, but unfortunately most of those folks are gone now. 🙁 I recently started a jam in my town. It’s mostly old country and folk, and we’re a pretty varied group. Last time we had 4 electric basses, 6ish guitars and me on the fiddle. I’m always…[Read more]

Hi Laura,
I thought I should chime in here. I started playing fiddle when I was 48! With two small kids and a business to run, my wife thought I was crazy. I tell her, as far as midlife crises go, she got off lucky. Anyway, I am a now 64 and a fairly decent, gigging , fiddle player. Here are few things I’ve learned.1. Same thing George and…[Read more]

Hi Laura, I also have a really busy life and it took a while (like a couple years) to figure out what I needed to make progress, even if slowly. So you are ahead of the game! For me it was 1) figuring out the style I wanted to study; 2) finding accountability; and 3) finding a jam so I could play with others. Surprisingly, the jam I recently…[Read more]

Laura,
You sound a lot like me! My son was even a Suzuki kid….35 years ago! That’s an excellent foundation for them.
I too consider myself a competent fiddler. I also just ran through tunes I knew or wanted to learn, until I joined this site.
You sound like a victim of what we all fall prey to: ‘life gets in the way’. Don’t beat yourself…[Read more] - Load More
