Thanks for the question, Bond61. A couple of thoughts on sheet music for the advanced melody:
Each time through the performance/advanced version of the tunes, the teacher may play a lick differently…or bow it differently. Basically, the teacher might play a section four (or more) different ways…Which way should that section be written in an…[Read more]

Hi Delma. Thanks for the suggestion. I intentionally left bowings out of the basic sheet music notation as I recommend that you develop your own bowings based on the licks you choose to play. Another reason is that I don’t always play each song with the same bowings as I teach and didn’t want folks to be confused if I did it two different ways.…[Read more]

Well thanks, Bill! Glad you like the tune. I wrote it for my bride of 15 years. Glad to hear that you’ll be learning it for their anniversary. Take care and keep fiddling!!

Good suggestions, guys! Kevin Burke recorded Sarah Delaney for us a couple of weeks ago, so stay tuned for that one in the next month or so. I’ll add these other suggestions to the listing of potential lessons in future recording sessions. Thanks!!

Hi there Rob. Good question. Hanneke’s bow is medium to tight. I play with a really loose bow, while I would say Hanneke’s is medium/tight tension…hers is in-between mine and true classical. Does that help? It’s really all about the wrist…Hope that helps!
Good question. I’m in awe of her technique, btw!

Hi again Valerie. Glad you were able to get going. I assume the mute button was checked in your video player if the guitar tracks worked. Keep us posted.

Hi Valerie. I believe you resolved this by unchecking the mute button. I followed up in email. Let us know if that didn’t do the trick!

Hey Peter. So I was told by an old-timer that the high ascending/low descending was the “correct” way to do it. It does feel more Texas Style to me that way. But if you’re not feeling it, I would say play them both low…throw in the high once just to surprise everybody!!!
Really, it’s your call, sir.

Casey Willis replied to the topic DVD?! in the forum General Fiddle Forum Topics 10 years, 11 months ago
Well, it seems that there are enough folks who would be interested in downloadable lessons, I’ll go ahead and start creating some files for download. I am thinking that I’ll offer each lesson for individual purchase so folks can go that route instead of membership. It will probably take a while to reconvert and zip all files to get them ready…[Read more]

Hey there, Delta. Thanks for the question. I have condsidered it, but at this point, the production time and shipping seems to outweigh the folks asking for DVDs…that being said, I’m also considering creating downloadable lessons. In other words, you could buy one lesson at a time, download them to your computer (assuming you have access to…[Read more]
