Thanks for getting back to me! If it’s going to be more than a month, is it possible to get the sheet music in the interim?

Hi, Christie.
We pivoted towards some of the newer recording sessions, but you are correct – there are still a couple from this old session which haven’t been produced…I’ll bump Stack of Barley in the production team’s queue…stay tuned!

I keep looking for Stack of Barley. Is Kevin doing a tutorial on it? It was my father daughter wedding Dane 35 years ago, and I want to play it on the fiddle.

I’m an adult beginner, and accidentally found your site. Locally we have some very talented fiddlers who teach, but my schedule makes it hard for me to have consistent lessons.
The video format here is super helpful because i can watch when I’m available, and the video is crazy helpful, already almost completely learned Whistlers Waltz and the…[Read more]

Is there a way to slow down the guitar accompaniment part as there is on the performance style screen?

Hi, Joe. Downbow on downbeat a good baseline rule, one which should absolutely be broken depending on phrasing. Also, depending on the style played, some rules don’t apply. Take a look at Kevin’s lessons, for instance, and you’ll notice that he often favors upbows on downbeats.
You can see opinions from our various instructors here: Fiddle…[Read more]

Hi, Paul.
A general rule of thumb would be to position the bridge between the notches on each F-hole and then adjust towards/away from the fingerboard to suit your ear. That said, I’d recommend having your instrument set up by a luthier who works on a lot of fiddles/violins…they are worth the $, in my opionion. Best of luck!

Hi, my old bridge snapped in two on my fiddle, I bought a replacement and shaved it down to the exact size of the old one except its a bit thicker. Now i’m replacing it is there a sweet spot it needs to go on and does it have to be at 90 degrees to the fiddle?
Thanks in advance for tips -

What are the important points to remember for a bow line? I am beginning to stray from some of the bowings of songs that I learned and then have not played in a while. Sometimes slurring instead of separate bows if it helps with speed or makes more sense to me. Also as I attempt to change an arrangement into a shuffle pattern instead, it would…[Read more]
