Anton,
Tell us what pedal you use! The 10 second shift would be awesome! What a time saver.
I’ve seen you mention a pedal before but I didn’t get make/model.
Best wishes with the new fiddle

Hi George,
thanks a lot for looking
at the moment i use the pedal as is and one of the presets is arrow left arrow right which goes back or forward 10seconds which is perfect for my purpose.
I’ll research a-b later, at the moment my brand new violin is going to finally be in my hands so I’m a bit distracted!
cheers!

Antonvon,
I can’t find any keyboard instructions for video controls.
on both computer and tablet the only control I can find is to use the curser on the menu at the bottom of the video.
Can’t find any keyboard controls.
Thanks,

Patti,
I’ve been investigating your question for the last couple of days. One would think that if you sign up for a Sound Cloud account you could gain the use of their playback tools. So I signed up for a free account but was unable to access enhanced controls. If you pay for the Sound Cloud subscription you may get speed control.
It appears C…[Read more] -

I’m revisiting the question posed in 2017, asking if there is now a way to change speeds on the SoundCloud Guitar backing tracks. It would really be helpful as I learn a tune, without having to use the “performance” track. Thanks

Thanks for the good info Tanya. I’ll be trying some of your suggestions. Do you know if there is a stretching exercise for this as well?
I don’t seem to have much issue with any other string. I have noticed too, I can play single notes better on the D, A or E strings after I have worked on doing double stops that included the G string. So at…[Read more]

Try experimenting with fiddle placement more towards the middle (scroll pointing forward) of your body instead
of the side. Experiment also with height. Make sure your fiddle isn’t pointing up too high but not down towards the floor either but maybe a little lower than level would help with getting the G string, that way you won’t have to raise…[Read more] -

Philip, I’m helping Casey with site moderation. I’ll make sure he gets your request.
You’ve probably seen the Bill Monroe, Kenny Baker version on YouTube. Cool to see those guys sitting and jamming under a shade tree. Makes the tune more accessible.

Sounds like the same Baggs bridge pickup, Louis.
Another newer Baggs preamp many professional accoustic guitar/mando/fiddle/etc. players are using is the VoicePrint DI. From what I gather, you record yourself playing on an iphone app, and the device emulates your specific accoustic sound once you plug in. I like the idea, but from what I can…[Read more]

Oh that makes more sense now, Antonvon. Great idea. I believe the hot keys you would want to map would be “I” for setting the in point, “O” for setting the out point, and the space bar for play…but you might just have to test via keyboard. Best of luck!

I’ve never tried mic ing the output of a PA amplifier;
Altho I haven’t checked the output signal level of the LR Baggs Venue, I think of it as a a ‘pre-amp’ in that it has a signal volume control with it’s own power source (it uses a 9 volt battery or can use a powered wall plug) and so I presume it can boost the output of the piezoelectric…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing your experience, Louis. Very valuable. So you run to the PA, do you ever run to an amp and then mic the amp?
Thanks again,

Hi all
After years of feeling that working with a vocal mic (like an sm-57) was the best choice for me for both vocals and fiddle, because I do both in performance, I recently had a bad experience when the sound guy didn’t provide a good mix during the fiddle breaks. I thought it would help the sound engineers if I provided a quality signal for…[Read more] -

Hi Casey sorry for answering late. I got myself a pageflip dragonfly, it’s bluetooth and programable and can do anything, I’ll have to find what are the keyboard shortcuts for going from a to b or rewind 10 seconds etc, I’ll do that with my foot meaning i wont have to stop playing at anytime.
I’ll let you know how it goes, you program it with a pc…[Read more] -

Good advice here, George and Robert.
Fiddle is such a tough instrument to amp. I generally go with a mic, but still occasionally use the piezo/mic setup you describe from the other thread, George. The only thing I’d add to that is when I do choose to do a loud gig and just use the LR Baggs Piezo bridge, I also use a Baggs Venue pre-amp.
