Hi,
Could you help me with chopping problems? I do all my fiddlings with viola, which is bigger of course and the bow is also longer and a bit heavier. I don’t know if my bow’s ok for this kind of playing (or just my poor technique, maybe?); the top of the bow trembles while chopping, and that’s annoying. Hi,
What’s that tune played at the end of the québécois lessons called? It’d be great to see that one as a lesson. I heard it once at a contest for their sound check and it sounded like a great tune.

That’s a great approach, Ed. You’re taking Andre’s advice for sure! Having the tune in your head before you start in on fingering is really helpful.
You can also download the mp3 track to play on a mobile device/in your car to hear the tune when you’re not connected to the internet.

This is my first post. I like the broad spectrum of tunes. When I attempt to learn a new tune, I listen to the entire tune and then print the sheet music. Then I study the sheet music to get the timing and hum it to myself. Then I go to the basic video and follow it by reading the music and humming, the phrase while bowing and…[Read more]-
Great Job Ed, A folk trick of longstanding tradition is to be able to hum the tune first… as the saying goes…”The tune has to be inside before it can go to the outside.” Keep up the good work it gets easier the more you play. Thanks for posting, Roland White Forum Moderator
