Hi, Shepsj. Thanks for chiming in. We wrapped Kevin’s recording session up on Sunday, so these suggestions are just a day late, I fear. However…
Is the Pigeon on the Gate tune this one? Or is it a different tune? I think I heard that there are multiple versions of the tune, so the one Hanneke taught might not be the one you are after. I…[Read more]

Hi Casey,
I would like to suggest Kevin do both,“Pigeon on the Gate” and
“The Glen of Aherlow” (Lafferty’s)
this would complete the set with “The Morning Dew” (Which I’ve finally learnt from your site, thanks)I saw him many years ago in Newtown,Wales, perform this set as a solo when he performed as “The Celtic Fiddle Festival” That’s when I…[Read more]

Hi Casey, Sounds like productive recording weekend with Kevin. Thanks for posting the tune list. Lots of great tunes to look forward to. Thanks for all your work keeping fresh tunes coming to FV. I first heard some of these tunes many years ago in Portland when Kevin first appeared in the Pacific NW. Lots to look forward to here. Thanks Casey. R

As promised, here is the update with the listing of tunes recorded this weekend by Kevin Burke. It will be a while before production is complete on these, but it’s nice to have a backlog of good tunes to offer going forward. Keep your eyes out…here are the tunes from this weekend’s session:
The Old Torn Petticoat
Stack of Barley
Garret…[Read more] -

Ok, folks. Thanks much for the input!
I’ll pass this feedback over to Kevin. We’re all set to start cutting tracks tomorrow evening through Sunday.
I’ll post the final list of lessons recorded in this thread once we wrap.
Cheers!!

Hi, Tundra. We looked at that a while back when the site first launched. At that time, the tech wasn’t available to serve up audio files via web with the ability to slow them down….that may have changed. I’ve never really been thrilled with the SoundCloud embedded players, so maybe it’s time I revisited this to see if there is a good web-b…[Read more]

I find the backing tracks on the site are too slow and too fast. Is there anyway I can fix that?

Hi, SSulzman. That’s a good thought. I have a player or two in mind…It looks like the 2018 studio/production schedule is filling up, so it may be a while. Great idea, though!

Hey Casey, could you host some western swing players to teach us some swing fiddle contest tunes?

Oliver replied to the topic Kevin Burke Lesson Requests – New Recording Session in the forum Lessons in Production – Fiddle Tune Requests 7 years, 6 months ago
Thumbs up for ‘The Galway Rambler’. Also, from that list, would love to see ‘Contentment is Wealth’.
Looking forward to it.

Hi Casey,
I’d be happy with absolutely anything Kevin wants to teach. That said, I’m a +1 on Sailing into Walpole’s Marsh and Shores of Lough Gowna

OK, folks. Kevin just provided the below list of tunes he thought of for next week’s sessions…any votes on these?

Hi Olivianora,
Thanks for the tune suggestion. Blackberry Blossom is a well known Bluegrass tune here in America and I wouldn’t doubt that a earlier version first appeared in Celtic Music, although I have only heard it played Celtic style by one
Irish fiddler, Eileen Eivers who did a beautiful lilting rendition with John Waylon.Your request…[Read more]
