That’s way cool and beyond me. But Tom and Jerry is pretty cool even when simplified.
Thanks for sharing.

Andy Leftwich has a new video out with a superb version of Tom & Jerry. It’s no wonder why this is such a great contest tune. He makes it look so easy.
Here’s the link if you’d like to check it out.

Thanks George, I first heard Scorrie in a festival session and it was a lot of fun! Look forward to seeing more lessons too! Cheers, Kate

Kate,
I had to look this one up. Never heard of it before. Nice drive in the Alasdair Frazier version.
I randomly ran into Casey last night, we don’t even live in the same town. He said he has a bunch of material coming from Kevin Burke and Hanneke. Maybe we will get lucky.
Otherwise, we can add it to the wish list.
Thanks,

Hi everyone! I was born and raised on Vancouver Island. I have Cree-Métis heritage, but have a few different influences. Métis, Quebécois, Old-time & Bluegrass both Canadian and US, and Celtic. I also play clawhammer banjo, and guitar. Big fan of the website, and been using it for around 2 years now I think! Great resource

Hi Casey! I was wondering if there was an update on this. I’m Métis, but have no access to other Métis fiddlers where I am. I’ve never been able to find a lesson online! I think it would be a popular addition to the site! Cheers

I am just starting to learn the chop, and I saw a video of this song on YouTube https://youtu.be/9mFaQcdYVxg?si=TszoFNjMpJaoh-g2 with Alasdair Fraser doing a workshop on the Wings of a Scorrie. I love the song itself, but also the chopping that they do within it. Is it possible for a lesson on both components?

Hello
Even if quite technical to achieve, I am a huge fan of the Strathspey’s O’Death #1 and #2 from Hanneke Cassel’s “Some melodious Sonnet” album released in 2004. They both have amazing energy and I was wondering if it was ever to be made available to learn around here.
Thanks a lot for the hard work that made this platform so nice to learn…[Read more]

Welcome Bradley,
Lots of Celtic sounds here. Sounds like Titanic influenced you in a couple of ways.

Australia for me, out in Jervis Bay. I’ve been playing for 25 years, started at 7 years old after watching Titanic and hearing the Kesh Jig and Drowsy Maggie, I knew I wanted to do that (ironically I also ended up doing 10 years in the Navy). After begging my parents for a year to let me learn, I got my first violin. My grandfather was born and…[Read more]

Casey, Andy Leftwich is amazing. He has a version of Big Mon that he does with twin mandolin that is simply beautiful. I do a weekly bluegrass radio show that’s broadcast in Ireland and I closed this coming Sunday’s (April 20) show out with Big Mon by Andy.
If you should cut a lesson of Road To Spencer in C, and I learn it, my fiddle jam…[Read more]

Gifford,
I bet there is a chance we could get Megan to teach The Banks Hornpipe. Just not sure when/ how often she connects with Casey.
I’ll move your request over to the tune request forum.
Thanks,

Another way to check the position of the bridge is to measure the distance between the nut and the bridge (which is the vibrating length of the string), it should be around 328mm for a violin.
